CTTC’s New Downtown Lab to Open Monday, Oct. 13

Skillpoint Alliance’s Community Technology Training Center (CTTC) program is pleased to announce the opening of their third computer lab next Monday, October 13. The new computer lab, located at Skillpoint’s main office at 201 E. Second St. Suite B, will add daytime classes to CTTC’s schedule. The lab, funded by generous donations and in-kind support from IBM, Titus Electric, the Entrepreneurial Foundation, Austin Business Furniture, and Microsoft, features 15 computers.

Monday’s inaugural class will be a prepatory class, Intro to Keyboard and Mouse, and will be taught by Sam Barry. The class will run Monday through Wednesday, 9 am to 1 pm. Anyone interested in taking this class or with further questions should call 323-6773 ext. 122.

Stacy Bouwman, Managing Director of CTTC, said she hopes the daytime classes will make it easier for some clients to attend. “We want our new lab and daytime classes to make it easier for parents to attend while their kids are at school,” she said. “We are also located on many, many buslines, so we are now more accesible than ever.”

Clients can reach the new lab from Capital Metro‘s number 10, 17 and 3 lines which stop at Brazos and 2nd St. Alternatively, clients can take the 101, 142, 1L, 1M, 20, 30, 5, 7, 9 and the 450 Congress Dillo and get off at Congress and 2nd St. Please note that Capital Metro’s fare increase goes into effect Monday, Oct. 13. The new standard bus fare will be 75 cents, and a day pass will cost $1.50. Express fare will be $1.50, and $3.00 for a day pass. Most other fares will also see a modest increase. A list of all the fares can be downloaded from http://www.capmetro.org/riding/Fares_faq.asp. Limited street parking is also available.
